Register here: https://betheldurham.shulcloud.com/form/talmud-study-group-fall-2023.html
On many Thursday evenings this fall, Rabbi Greyber will lead a Talmud Study Group from 7 to 8:30 pm in the Sager Beit Midrash. We will be learning the 3rd chapter of Moed Katan, "V'eilu M'galhin." The Talmud notoriously wanders from topic to topic, but this chapter includes rabbinic conversations about Jewish mourning practices. Knowledge of Hebrew and Aramaic will be helpful, but not necessary. Everything will be done in translation, but students should be able to commit to attending most class sessions.
Students should purchase a translation/commentary of Tractate Mo'ed Katan. Either Artscroll (which is what will be used in the class) or Koren.

Interfaith Clergy Conference at Beth El Synagogue
April 10, 2024 9:30 am - 11:30 am
Beth El Synagogue, 1004 Watts Street Durham, NC 27701
Register here: http://tinyurl.com/ClergyConference2024 Our annual FREE Interfaith Clergy Conference returns in April. This year, we are featuring Rabbi Shai Held, President and Dean at the Hadar Institute for a presentation and discussion about his latest book, “Judaism is About Love: Recovering the Heart of Jewish Life.” All registrants will receive a copy!
This discussion will probe the similarities and differences about the way that Christianity and Judaism think about love. Rabbi Held recovers the heart of the Jewish tradition, offering the radical and moving argument that love belongs as much to Judaism as it does to Christianity. Blending intellectual rigor, a respect for tradition and the practices of a living Judaism, and a commitment to the full equality of all people, Held seeks to reclaim Judaism as it authentically is.
Let’s learn and discuss together about this important topic, and enjoy a morning of food and fellowship.

The Nova tribe, a community of over 10,000 psychedelic trance music enthusiasts, has in recent years, gathered together for an annual outdoor festival. This year's event, held on October 7th in southern Israel, close to the border with Gaza, ended in a devastating tragedy, with the cold-blooded massacre of over 300 partygoers and the abduction of a further 40.
During the days following the event, director Dan Pe'er, who was engaged in volunteer efforts to aid survivors, started receiving a multitude of video and audio clips from survived festival goers. #NOVA chronicles the harrowing atrocities minute by minute, merely through festival survivors camera footage, and terrorists body camera recordings. With no outside intervention, the raw documentary reveals the true, bone-chilling atrocities of October 7th.
Come watch this important film with our Triangle community on April 16 at Beth El Synagogue in Durham.

Talmud Study Group
April 25, 2024 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
